Our new Diploma course offers students a number of pathways to reach your goals in upholstery whilst preparing you with all the latest materials and processes used today.
3 teaching blocks are delivered over the academic year from a wide range of options and students are guided throughout the full scale projects (no sample exercises) to achieve finished usuable pieces
Students can choose all their pathways at the beginning of the year or decide the next route once one is completed
These new pathways have been created to equip students with a wide variety of skills to ensure they are confident to work in industry using todays modern methods and materials as well as keeping the much loved traditional methods alive
We are focussing on using new sustainable products and natural fillings wherever possible
You can choose a traditional pathway or a modern pathway or even a mix of both depending on the goals you wish to achieve

UPHOLSTERY
Our new day or evening leisure Upholstery course continues in September taught by Matthew Gates and is an opportunity to discover the skills and processes of upholstery. A beginner or with some experience its a great space to work in with an onhand outstanding qualified tutor. Students may choose to work on a modern or traditional piece of furniture and can purchase materials for the project along the way. This traditional craft is addictive and so we have set up a set of 12 classes running consecutively so that should you wish to continue seamlessly you can.
Bring your own chair, sorry no two or three seaters, tools and equipment provided and also available to buy
Course content will include:
Guided use of equipment including Health & Safety procedures
Direction on individual projects
Step by step tuition from a 4th generation upholsterer the immeasurable Matthew Gates
Technician on hand help with the use of domestic or industrial machines
Advice on fabrics, trends and cutting plans
